Ambassador Marjon V. Kamara chairs the promotion of job intensive development in LDCs

Participants: The Chair for the Panel Discussion is Ambassador Marjon Kamara (PR of Liberia) with a Opening Statement from Mr. Diarra (OHRLLS) and Ambassador Gyan Chandra Acharya (PR of Nepal and Chair of Global Coordination Bureau of the LDC).

A major part of this panel discussion is the launch of the new ILO report entitled “Growth, Productive Employment and Decent Work in the LDCs”. The report analyses the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities in the current development pattern of LDCs and provide policy options that promote job intensive development based on sectoral analyses. The Report will be presented by the Executive Director of the ILO Employment Sector, José Manuel Salazar, and will also feature a number of experts and practitioners:

* Raquel de Carvalho Oliveria – Head, Division of Technical Cooperation, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Brazil;

* Kouglo Lawson-Body –Director of Economic Policy, ITUC-Africa;

* Sanjesh Naidu –Economic Adviser, Pacific Islands Forum;

* Norma Powell – Vice-President, Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH)

As part of the preparatory process for the Fourth UN Conference on LDCs
